About the Speaker

Dr. Dana Johnson is the owner of Interplay Therapy Center and the founder of Invictus Academy Tampa Bay, a school supporting K-12 students in Tampa Bay, FL. She has a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy and a Ph.D. in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Development. Dr. Johnson is an S2C (Spelling to Communicate) Practitioner and Mentor for S2C training.

She is also on the Executive Leadership Cadre of I-ASC (International Association for Spelling as Communication), a non-profit organization to support the nonspeaking community through education, advocacy, research, and training.

Dr. Johnson has been working with the nonspeaking community for almost 15 years but had a paradigm shift almost 6 years ago that changed her perspective and the way she practiced. She says, “Presuming competence and providing reliable communication opens up a whole new world for families. Communication is a right for all, and it is now my mission to ensure that all nonspeakers are respected, have autonomy, and that everyone has a reliable means of communication.”
